National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME)

Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be either be a high school senior applying to an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution, or be currently matriculating in an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution.
  2. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  3. have a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.0 or undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The Chevron Scholarship is available for high school senior applying to an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution, or be currently matriculating in an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution, a US citizen or permanent resident.

Application requirements for the Chevron Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript.
Additional Information: NACME is responsible for more than $4 million in scholarships awarded annually to underrepresented minority (URM) students, with more than $1.6 million awarded in NACME’s funded scholarships and $2.4 million more through our partner institutions’ in-kind support. NACME expects to support approximately 1,000 underrepresented minority engineering and computer students annually. The Chevron Scholarship Program awards current matriculating students in Engineering: specifically, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil and Petroleum as well as Computer Science (and qualifying information technology programs), who have the potential to excel as scholars, leaders and potential contributors to Chevron Corporation. Assessment will be based on academic merit and leadership potential.

Award Amount: Students are selected each year and they are given a one-time award of $5,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.
