  2. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student.
  3. Must design a direct marketing campaign for a real client as designated by DMNews.
  4. Must be 18 years of age, or older.

Additional Information: The Caples Awards, honoring the best in direct and interactive marketing around the world, was founded in 1978 by Andi Emerson, a direct marketing pioneer, in order to honor well-recognized copywriter John Caples. With international chairs in 50 countries, it is supported by industry agencies, clients and suppliers; is run by industry volunteers; and is judged by more than 50 active, senior-level, international creative professionals. Over 200 creatives and marketers from around the world attend the annual awards presentation. We have revamped Caples to celebrate the boldest, most creative solutions to tough marketing problems in a three-day summit. More than 50 senior creative directors from around the world gather annually in New York City to judge submitted digital and direct work in 20+ categories.

Award Amount: The winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a fully paid trip to New York for the Caples Awards in November, including airfare and standard hotel room expenses. The winning individual or group will also receive an internship with Alloy Media + Marketing. The runner-up may receive a $1,000 cash prize. Please note: If a team wins the award, the prize money will be split equally among the members. Only two lead group members will be awarded the trip to New York.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Application forms are available on the DMNews website. Students may enter individually or in a team. There is no size limit on teams. Students are not required to have a faculty adviser or sponsor. In addition to a completed entry form, the student/team must submit a marketing plan that targets college students. The integrated marketing communications plan should increase awareness of and drive purchase intent for the target store location. The student/team must submit short answers of up to 500 words responding to the prompts of each section in the online application. The student/team must also submit campaign creative (copy and design) that explains and shows the creative elements used. The entry form and campaign materials must be submitted online and must be received in full by the deadline date. Entries postmarked on the deadline date, but received after the deadline, will not be accepted.
