Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must major in computer information systems or computer science.
  6. Must attend Texas A&M University OR Amarillo College.
  7. Must be a resident of one of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. graduating high school seniors or undergraduate college students who have a grade point average of 3.0 and are majoring in computer science or computer information systems at Texas A&M or Amarillo College are eligible for this award.

Application requirements for the Association of Information Technology Professionals Scholarship are:

  • Official Transcript
  • Application form
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Proof of residency
  • ACT/SAT scores
  • Form 1040
Additional Information: Recipients are selected by the Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarship Screening Committee.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, distributed over two semesters. This award is non-renewable. The recipient must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 in college.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Amarillo Area Foundation website. Each applicant must create a login and password in order to access the online application. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit proof of U.S. citizenship or residency, official high school and/or college transcripts, ACT/SAT scores (if a high school senior), a current IRS Form 1040, and two letters of recommendation. Some supplemental materials may be submitted in electronic format within the online application. If materials are not available in electronic format, they may be mailed or faxed using the respective mailing address and fax number. Applications and all supporting materials must be received by noon CST on the deadline date. Materials postmarked by the deadline date will also be accepted.
