Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a current college freshman, sophomore, or junior.
  4. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  5. Must major in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, or systems engineering.
  6. Must attend one of the eligible institutions listed on the UNCF website.
  7. Must be African American.
  8. Must be enrolled full time.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are African American and majoring in select STEM fields at select institutions. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate unmet financial need.

Additional Information: The Northrop Grumman Foundation was created as a means to support diverse and sustainable programs that enhance the education experience for students and provide them with the training and tools they need to be successful. One of their top business priorities is to provide unique education experiences related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students must have a demonstrated unmet need verified by his/her attending college or university.

Award Amount: The award amount varies annually. Awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,500.

Applications are available online form the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) website. In order to access the online application, the student must create a login using his/her email address and selected password. As part of the online application, the student must write a one-page essay describing his/her career interest relative to his/her major in STEM and provide contact information for a person who will provide a reference on his/her behalf. The reference will be provided with instructions for completing the reference form. Please note: To be qualified for this scholarship, the student must complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
