Alabama Commission on Higher Education
Award amounts range from $300 to $2,500 per academic year and are based on the amount of financial need. Awards are not automatically renewable. Students may re-apply each year by completing the FAFSA.
The number of awards offered annually may vary based on the number of qualified applicants and the amount of funding available.
For the purposes of this award, an applicant's financial need is the difference between his/her available financial resources and his/her anticipated educational cost, including tuition and fees applicable to such student together with the institution's estimate of other expenses reasonably related to cost of attendance at such institution, including, but not limited to, the cost of room and board, transportation costs, and costs for books and supplies. Awards will be disbursed in the following priority order: 1) students with exceptional financial need, i.e., those with the lowest Expected Family Contributions (EFCs) who will also receive Pell Grants; 2) students with low EFCs who will not receive Pell Grants. Awards will be made in order of lowest EFC to highest until funding is depleted.
