The average scholarship award is $5,000 annually, non-renewable.
The number of awards offered varies annually according to the number of college students meeting the eligiblity requirements in any given year. Last year, two scholarships were offered.
Please note: Students need not be gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered themselves to apply. A scholarship committee, which may be composed of members of Equity Foundation, or members or friends of the lesbian/gay community, will review each candidate's application. A personal interview may be arranged for finalists. The recipients of the Bill and Ann Shepherd Legal Scholarship will be chosen upon completion of the application and interview process. Successful candidates will have demonstrated: ability to meet the eligibility guidelines and clarity of educational objectives. Financial need will be considered. Recipients will be notified in late July or early August.
