Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be law school student pursuing a Juris Doctor.
  2. Must be attending an accredited law school at least half time.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be attending college in the U.S.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Additional Information: In 2003, the Foundation named one of these scholarships in memory of Chris Nakamura, a leader of the Asian Pacific American legal community of Arizona. The Chris Nakamura NAPABA Law Foundation Scholar will be awarded $2,500.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online from the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit an official copy of his/her most recent law school transcript (a first-year law student must submit a statement from his/her law school certifying that he/she is a law degree candidate enrolled at least half-time); a resume; and two letters of recommendation from persons not related to the applicant. An applicant who wishes to demonstrate financial need may also submit a copy of his/her law school application for financial assistance. All applications must be submitted online and must be received no later than the deadline date.
