Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must major in culinary arts and have a career goal of becoming, or already be, a chef or pastry chef.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must be a current college student at time of application. The applicant must have completed at least one grading or marking period (trimester, semester or quarter).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to help culinary students pay for the costs of attending an accredited, post-secondary school approved by the AAC.

Application requirements for the Balestreri/Cutino Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter (x2)
  • Essay
  • Institutional financial statement
Additional Information: Sponsored and administered by The American Academy of Chefs (ACC), the Balestreri/Cutino Scholarship provides culinary students with assistance toward covering the cost of culinary programs. Scholarships are available to exemplary students currently enrolled in an accredited, postsecondary school of culinary arts, or other postsecondary culinary training program acceptable to the AAC. The American Academy of Chefs Scholarship Committee will make the selections and announce the recipients within one month of the deadline date.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the American Culinary Federation website by clicking on the 'College Students' link under the 'Scholarship Applications' heading. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit two letters of recommendation from industry and/or culinary professionals, a financial aid release form, responses to the two questions listed on the application, and a sealed official transcript showing his/her current grade point average. All application materials must be postmarked by May 1 for the fall semester or Sept. 1 for the spring semester.
