$1,000 annually, non-renewable. The judges reserve the right not to award a prize, at their discretion.
Three awards offered annually: one for piano, one for another instrumental performer, and one for a vocal performer.
Scholarships are awarded by performance audition. Contestants must perform at least two selections from two different periods: baroque, classical, romantic, and/or modern. The performance is not to exceed 15 minutes total. Music must be performed from memory. Applicants must provide their own accompanists. One published edition of the music must be provided for the panel of judges. Copied music will not be accepted. This year, three scholarships will be awarded. These are: The Emily K. Rand Instrumental Scholarship, the Lucia A. Wright Piano Scholarship, and the Barbara C. Littlefield Vocal Scholarship. The competition will begin in June 2, 2018, at Saint Luke's Cathedral, 143 State St., Portland, Maine. Contestants will be notified of their specific performance times in advance. Please note: Previous first-prize winners are ineligible to compete again.
