Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of the island of Hawaii.
  4. Must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  5. Must plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university as a full-time student (9 credits per semester).
  6. Must major in education.
  7. Must be a college senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for Hawaii graduate students who are majoring in education. Students must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The family of Sarah Rosenberg established this fund in her memory as Sarah was interested in becoming a teacher. All applicants must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Applications open annually in November.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Online application forms are available on the Hawai'i Community Foundation website. The student should visit the provider's website for detailed instructions on how to complete the online application. In addition to the online application form, the student must submit the following supporting materials: the printed confirmation page that is generated after applying online; a typed, double-spaced personal statement of two to three pages answering the questions listed online; an official copy of his/her most recent transcript; and a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Note: Students will not be able to submit their application until all required supporting documents are electronically attached to the application. The application must be submitted by 4 p.m. HST on the deadline date.
