Up to $6,000 annually, renewable for up to three years. Most of the award (up to $5,700) can be used for tuition and board; part of it (up to $300) is used for summer enrichment programs. All amounts are subject to change based on funding.

Teaching Fellows participate in advanced enrichment programs in Teaching Fellows institutions, professional development opportunities during summer months, and involvement with communities and businesses throughout the state. The regional committees forward their recommendations for fellowships to CERRA. These recommendations are presented to the center's policy board for final approval. In addition, alternates are selected and notified. In the event that a new Teaching Fellow declines or no longer meets the requirements of the fellowship, the alternate with the highest rating will be selected. Fellows may be selected from the pool of alternates until the end of the first fall term following high school graduation. A fellow must agree to teach in South Carolina one year for every year he/she received the fellowship. If he/she does not fulfill the service requirement, the fellowship converts to a loan and all monies received must be paid back at 10 percent interest.
