In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for female students.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must plan to major in major in education, drama, or psychology.
  4. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  5. Must be a resident of Dutchess County, New York.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Additional Information: Established by the family of Stephanie Brown to honor her memory and devotion to children.  This scholarship is available to female Dutchess County high school graduating seniors who intend to major in Education (preferred), Drama or Psychology in college.

Award Amount: $1,000 to $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
