Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be a member of the San Francisco, CA AIST or a dependent of a San Francisco CA AIST member.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. Must plan to pursue a career in iron and steel technology.
  6. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll full time.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. high school seniors and undergraduate students in San Francisco, CA who are planning to major in engineering and pursue a career in iron and steel technology. Applicants must be AIST members or dependents of AIST members.

Application requirements for the AIST San Francisco Member Chapter Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The objectives of the AIST San Francisco Chapter Scholarships are to reward and encourage AIST San Francisco Chapter area high school seniors or currently enrolled undergraduate students by providing a grant of financial support during full-time attendance at any accredited North American college or university. AIST Foundation Scholarship awards are intended to attract talented and dedicated students and to encourage them to pursue careers within the iron and steel industry. The AIST Foundation Board of Trustees administers the scholarships. Please note: Students must be AIST members or dependents of AIST members to apply for this award.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications are available online on the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a current resume with work experience and any extracurricular activities, noting any leadership positions; one essay of up to 250 words describing one of the topics on the application; a letter of recommendation or completed evaluation form; a copy of SAT and/or ACT test score reports; and a current high school or college transcript. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted by email or postal mail and must be received no later than the deadline date.
