Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a college junior or senior in the upcoming academic year.
  3. Must be enrolled in a nuclear engineering or mechanical engineering baccalaureate program. Students must demonstrate a particular interest in nuclear engineering as defined by NED: the design, analysis, development, testing, operation, and maintenance of reactor systems and components, nuclear fusion, heat transport, nuclear fuels technology, and radioactive waste.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must be enrolled full time.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. college sophomores or juniors who demonstrate a particular interest in nuclear engineering are eligible for this award. Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited or substantially equivalent nuclear engineering or mechanical engineering baccalaureate program.

Additional Information: Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited school for the upcoming academic year. Information regarding accreditation status is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx. Applicants also must have established a grade point average in their degree programs to qualify. If applicants have not established a grade point average at the college level, they are not eligible to apply. Award recipients will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability, character, integrity, leadership, financial need, and potential contribution to the nuclear engineering profession. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship results between June 15 and July 1. Scholarship money will be sent to scholarship winners by the end of August.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Scholarship awardees from past years will not be selected to receive additional scholarships. Students must apply again each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $15,000.
