Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a full- or part-time employee currently in the aerospace industry or a related field.
  3. Must be a member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) by Nov. 1, and that membership must remain current through March. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.
  4. Must be a female.
  5. Must be enrolled in or planning to enroll in an educational program (funds may not be used for flight hours).
  6. Must wish to advance her career in the aerospace industry in the fields of engineering, technology development, or management.

Description: This award is available to female members of Women in Aviation International who wish to advance their careers in the aerospace industry in the fields of engineering, technology development, or management. Applicants may be full-time or part-time employees of the aerospace industry.

Additional Information: The Boeing Company will award a scholarship to a woman who wishes to advance her career in the aerospace industry in the fields of engineering, technology development or management. The award is to be used for educational purposes only and may not be applied toward flight hours. All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded at the Annual International Women in Aviation Conference. Attendance at the conference is not required to receive a scholarship, but it is encouraged. Please note: Students may only receive one scholarship per year.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available on the Women in Aviation, International (WAI) website. A complete application packet must include three stapled sets of the following (one original and two copies): a completed application form; two recommendation letters of one page each; a 500-word typed, descriptive essay; a professional resume; and copies of all aviation licenses and medical certificates, and the last three pages of the applicant's pilot logbook, if applicable. Please note: The descriptive essay and resume should address the topics listed online at www.wai.org/education/guidelines.cfm. An international applicant must include a copy of the pilot and mechanic guidelines for her country and the equivalent copies of licenses and medical certificates with her application. A separate application packet must be submitted for each scholarship for which the student wishes to apply. Students may apply for a maximum of two scholarships per year. Application packets must be submitted online or sent to the address provided and be postmarked by the deadline date.
