In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be an AIChE national student member.
  3. Must pursue a career in chemical engineering.
  4. Must have completed approximately 50 percent of his/her degree requirement at the start of the academic year (i.e. junior standing in chemical engineering in a four-year program or equivalent for a five-year co-op program).

Description: International and U.S. college juniors who are members of AIChE and planning a career in chemical engineering are eligible for this award. Students must have completed approximately 50 percent of their degree requirements at the start of the current academic year (i.e. junior standing in chemical engineering in a four-year program or equivalent for a five-year co-op program).

Additional Information: The chapter advisor may nominate a student who will complete the chemical engineering baccalaureate degree requirements in mid year (i.e. after one semester or one or two quarters), but such nominees, if selected, will receive prorated awards. Awards are presented based on the nominee's academic record; his/her participation in AIChE Student Chapter and other professional activities as outlined by the Student Chapter Adviser in his/her letter of nomination; the support of the nominee by the Student Chapter Adviser; and his/her career objectives and plans as outlined in his/her letter. Awardees will be notified by Oct. 1.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Nomination forms are available online from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) website or by contacting the awards administrator at the email address or telephone number provided. Each student must be nominated for this award by his/her student chapter adviser (students cannot apply directly for this scholarship). Only one nomination will be accepted from each AIChE Student Chapter or Chem. E. Club. Nomination forms are available online from the AIChE website or by contacting the AIChE Awards Administrator. In addition to the completed nomination form, the nomination package must include a letter of nomination from the AIChE Student Chapter Adviser containing, but not limited to, verification of the nominee's grade point average and projected completion date, and an evaluation of the nominee's academic performance and participation in AIChE Student Chapter and other professional activities; and a statement from the nominee of no more than 300 words, outlining his/her career plans and objectives in chemical engineering and including, but not limited to, his/her immediate plans after graduation and area(s) of chemical engineering of most interest, and his/her long-range career objectives. An original plus five copies of each of the three documents must be submitted.
