Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled in a mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or related baccalaureate program.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must enroll full time.
  5. Must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior in the upcoming academic year.
  6. Must be a resident of North America.
  7. Must study in the United States.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Rising college sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are enrolled full time in a mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or related baccalaureate program in the United States are eligible for this award. Students must be U.S. citizens residing in North America.

Additional Information: Through the generosity of Frank William Miller and Dorothy Given Miller, a scholarship fund was established in 1993. Frank Miller, P.E., ASME Fellow, Life Member, was vice-president 1951-1952. Dorothy Miller, Life Member, served the ASME Auxiliary as President 1951-1952. Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited school for the upcoming academic year. Information regarding accreditation status is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx. Applicants also must have established a grade point average in their degree programs to qualify. If applicants have not established a grade point average at the college level, they are not eligible to apply. The award recipients will be selected on the basis of character, integrity, leadership, and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship results between June 15 and July 1. Scholarship money will be sent to scholarship winners by the end of August.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.Scholarship awardees from past years will not be selected to receive additional scholarships. Students must apply again each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.
