  1. Must be a graduate student with an ongoing research project.
  2. Must be a student member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
  3. This award is for international and U.S. students.

Description: This award is for graduate students who need finanical support for research over a summer. Students must be IEEE members conducting research related to the NNS (neural networks, fuzzy systems, or evolutionary computation).

Additional Information: The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) will fund scholarships for deserving graduate students who need financial support for their research during a summer period. Any student with a meritorious project is invited to apply, but scholarships will be granted only to applicants who are student members of the IEEE at the time of the grant. The field of interest of applicants is open, but should be connected with identifiable components of the NNS (neural networks, fuzzy systems, or evolutionary computation).

Award Amount: $1,000 to $4,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

To apply for a CIS scholarship, interested applicants should submit a proposal to the CIS Graduate Student Research Grants Sub-Committee. Your proposal, to be submitted as a unique PDF file, should state the general purpose of your request, and should follow these guidelines:-Detailed explanation of the research to be conducted with the support from the scholarship (10pt font, 3 page maximum) -References related to research (10pt font, 1 page maximum) -A timeline of tasks required to complete research goals -A fully explanatory budget (1 page maximum) -Your resume (1 page maximum). Please provide your IEEE member number -2 reference letters supporting your application (including letters from sponsoring professors, if applicable). These must be included with your application and are not to be received individually.All applications and supporting documents must be submitted by the deadline date. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
