Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a licensed radio amateur (any class).
  4. Must attend or plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university.
  5. Must reside in central Florida (Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Volusia, Brevard, and Polk counties). If no qualified applicants from central Florida are identified, students who reside in Florida will be considered.
  6. Must study in a technical field that supports the radio art.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. students who are licensed radio amateurs (any class) and reside in central Florida (or, if no qualified student applies, reside in Florida). Students must be studying in a technical field that supports the radio art.

Additional Information: The Orlando HamCation Scholarship is available for students in Florida, with additional preference given to students in the central Florida area (Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Volusia, Brevard and Polk Counties). Students must be pursuing a technical field of study and must have an active amateur radio license. Recipients are typically notified by mid-May by USPS mail and email.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Foundation website. Applications must be completed online. Students need only submit one application for all scholarships for which they are eligible. The student must provide contact information for one educational reference, one character reference, and one social reference on the online application. The student must also submit a copy of his/her academic transcript from his/her most recently completed school year to the email address provided. The transcript must be scanned and submitted as a PDF.
