Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to four new awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a legal citizen of the United States.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  4. Must have been a legal resident of the state of Georgia for at least three years prior to application.
  5. Must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher OR rank in the upper 15 percent of his/her graduating class.
  6. Must have an SAT composite score (critical reading and math) of 1300 or higher.
  7. Must have been accepted to a four-year accredited college or university to pursue an undergraduate degree in mathematics, engineering, or one of the physcial sciences.
  8. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  9. Must demonstrate a commitment to community service.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available to Georgia high school seniors who have a grade point average of 3.0 or rank in the top 15 percent of their class, and have an SAT score of 1300 or higher. Students must plan to major in engineering, the physical sciences, or mathematics.

Application requirements for the Tech High School Alumni Assoc./W.O. Cheney Merit Scholarship are:

  • Application form

  • Recommendation letters (2)
Additional Information: All eligible students must demonstrate high moral qualities. Preference will be given to students attending a college/university in the state of Georgia and/or student who claim a connection to Tech High School, if such a claim can be verified. Scholarships are awarded on a nondiscriminatory basis after careful review of eligible applications. Award recommendations are approved by The Community Foundation's Board of Directors, and scholarship awards are paid directly to the educational institutions where the successful candidates are enrolled.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, renewable for three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.
