Number of Awards & Eligibility: 15 to 20 awards offered to students in Round 1. There will be one winner in Round 2, who will be designated as the Richard Diehl Award winner.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited college or university.
  3. Must enroll in six or more credit hours.
  4. Must be pursuing a design-oriented degree. Such degrees include, but are not limited to, architecture, engineering, construction, environmental design, urban design, urban planning, interior design, graphic design, landscape architecture, landscape design, lighting design, industrial design, machine design, theater design, scenic design, event planning, exhibit design, and woodworking.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This design competition is open to U.S. and international undergraduate and graduate students who submit an original design plan. Students must be pursuing a design-oriented degree (e.g., architecture, engineering, construction, environmental design, urban design, urban planning, interior design, graphic design, landscape architecture, landscape design, lighting design, industrial design, machine design, theater design, scenic design, event planning, exhibit design, and woodworking).

Application requirements for the Vectorworks Design Scholarship are:

  • Original design project
Additional Information: Vectorworks Design Scholarship winners will be announced publicly about 30 days after the application period closes.

Award Amount: Round 1 winners will receive $3,000 (USD) to be used for tuition, fees, housing, textbooks, studying abroad, conference fees, or other educational purposes. The winners will also receive free Vectorworks design software for his/her school's lab and free virtual or in-person training for faculty and students. The Richard Diehl Award winner will receive $7,000 (USD) to be used for uition, fees, housing, textbooks, studying abroad, conference fees, or other educational purposes. (This award is in addition to the $3,000 Round 1 prize.) The winner will also receive exposure in industry publications, press releases, etc.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,667.

Entry forms are available online on the Vectorworks website. To enter, the student must submit an original design. The student may submit a drawing only, but a complete presentation including a drawing, renderings of final results, etc. is preferred. A complete set of scale drawings with artfully arranged renderings to showcase a complete presentation of the idea is recommended. Each entry is limited to 50 MB and must be in .pdf, .mov, or .mp4 file formats. Students may submit a group project; all contributors must be listed as co-authors. Groups are limited to 10 members. Students may submit multiple projects per year. Entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on the deadline date.
