Solar Action Alliance Scholarship Program

The Solar Action Alliance Scholarship program is available for U.S. students who have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher. To apply, applicants must submit an original essay of between 500 and 1,000 words on the topic of the future of solar power.

Rachel Carson Scholarship in the Institute of Environmental Sustainability

The Rachel Carson Scholarship provides the opportunity for students to learn about nature by studying in nature through summer coursework at Loyola’s Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC). LUREC is Loyola’s newest campus located 50 miles NE of Chicago, on 98 acres of wetland, forest, prairies, and ponds, with a 3-acre organic student farm. Courses offered at LUREC include Field Ornithology, Principles of Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Restoration Ecology, Conservation Biology, and Sustainable Agriculture. Awardees will be required to take one 3-week course during the early summer session, in each of two years while at Loyola,. One J-term class at LUREC may substitute for a summer course. Recipients are also required to serve as ambassadors for LUREC with their peers. Four $2,500 per year scholarships will be awarded for up to four years each to qualified new freshman or transfer students who have been admitted into the Institute of Environmental Sustainability (IES). Tuition and fees for LUREC classes must be paid from these funds, which are added to the student’s account at the beginning of each of their eight regular semesters. Prospective candidates must be admitted to Loyola prior to February 1st. The Rachel Carson Scholarship application is due March 1st. NALP Foundation Scholarship

NALP’s Foundation grants scholarships to students enrolled in landscape contracting or horticultural programs at two- and four-year colleges and universities. Scholarships are funded by “Ambassadors” who are passionate about supporting the next generation of landscape professionals. Scholarships are presented annually at the National Collegiate Landscape Competition.

Humboldt Diversity Scholarships

The Ceiba Foundation for Tropical Conservation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit international conservation organization committed to fostering and supporting diversity in environmental science. Our Humboldt Diversity Scholarships enable students from under-represented racial and ethnic groups and of limited financial means to travel to the tropics and gain international experience in biological research and conservation. Scholarships can only be applied to Ceiba’s “Tropical Conservation Semester: Galapagos, Andes, and Amazon”, or one of our summer programs in Ecuador or Belize. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000. Award availability and scholarship amounts vary according to the number and need of applicants, and the length of the program.

Wisconsin Wastewater Operators Association Scholarship

A special benefit of membership in the WWOA is eligibility towards receiving financial aid for college expense. Four, $2,000 scholarships are awarded each year at the annual conference to financially assist a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Crane Engineering funds one and WWOA funds the other three $2,000 scholarships each year. Eligible students must be at least a second semester student in a degree program supportive of the wastewater field including civil, environmental, or sanitary engineering or other wastewater related degree programs. Award preference may be given to applicants who are sponsored by an active WWOA member. WWOA member sponsorship is not required to apply for the scholarships.

NAWT William Hapchuk Memorial Scholarship

The mission of the National Association of Wastewater Technicians (NAWT) is to unify the voice of the sanitary liquid waste management industry, while increasing its professionalism and public image through education of industry members and the public, and the development and national representation of individual, state, and regional chapters, allowing our industry to exchange ideas and concerns for the betterment of our members, the environment, and the general public.
