In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  2. Must be pursuing a doctoral degree.
  3. Must be a member in good standing of PDK International.
  4. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  5. Must be studying education.

Description: This award is for doctoral students who are members of PDK and are studying education or educational administration. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Additional Information: The John M. Skalski Endowed Graduate Scholarship is provided each year to honor John M. Skalski, who was professor emeritus of Fordham University’s School of Education and instrumental in the founding of the university's local PDK Chapter. Professor Skalski always assisted graduate students in the doctoral process by being available as a professor, a mentor, and a friend.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

The John M. Skalski Endowed Graduate Scholarship is for doctoral study in education. Applications are available online on the Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) International website. Students may also obtain an application by contacting a PDK chapter or by sending an SASE to the address provided. Applicants must submit all of the following: an application form; transcripts documenting a grade point average in the top 15%; three letters of recommendation – one from the applicant’s major professor, one from a professional colleague or peer, and one from a supervisor who currently supervises (or most recently has supervised) the applicant’s professional work. Also, applicants must provide evidence of professional activities that have resulted in improving an sustaining academic performance for all students. Completed applications and all supporting documentation must be submitted through the online application portal by the deadline date.
