In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must currently be a junior or senior in college.
  2. Must be a resident of the Kansas City area (Jackson, Clay, Platte and Cass counties in MO and Johnson and Wyandotte in KS).
  3. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  4. Must plan to become a physician.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: The William L. Corporon, MD Memorial Scholarship is avaialble for college juniors and seniors residing in the Kansas City area (Jackson, Clay, Platte and Cass counties in MO and Johnson and Wyandotte in KS). Applicants must plan to become a physician.

Additional Information: The William L. Corporon, MD Memorial Scholarship is provided in memory of William Corporon, a local area medical doctor who tragically lost his life during the Overland Park Jewish Community Center shooting. In the honor of his spirit and his love of life, a scholarship will be provided each year to a local area student who shares his passion for medicine and community involvement. Applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement, unmet financial need, and must reside in one of the following counties that comprises Kansas City: Jackson, Clay, Platte, and Cass counties in Missouri, and Johnson and Wyandotte in Kansas. This award is managed and administered through the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, a local area charity founded in 1978 with the mission of providing assistance and centralized resources for decentralized charitable causes and giving. Award Amount: Up to $2,500 annually, non-renewable. Funds may be used for tuition, books, or other approved educational fees.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.
