Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  3. Must be an Asian American or Pacific Islander.
  4. Must be a current undegraduate college student or recent college graduate.
  5. Must pursue a career in online or print journalism.
  6. Must study at an accredited institution in the United States.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Current college students and recent graduates of Asian American and/or Pacific Islander descent are eligible for this award. Students must have an internship secured for the upcoming summer semester and pursue a career in print or online news.

Additional Information: The applicant must have already secured a summer internship prior to applying for this grant. Financial need is required. Membership in AAJA is recommeded and required for a selected recipient.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1.

Applications are available online from the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) website by clicking on the "Print and Online News Internship Grant" link. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit three complete, collated sets (one original, two copies) of the following materials: an essay of no more than 200 words on the topic listed; one letter of recommendation; his/her resume; a photocopy of his/her driver's license, passport or birth certificate as proof of age; a short statement of financial need; and verification that he/she has secured an internship. Applications and supporting materials must be received by the deadline date.
