Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in and attend school in Chelan, Douglas, or Okanogan counties of Washington.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  3. Preference is given to students planning to major in music or journalism.

Description: The Doell Family Scholarship is available for high school seniors in Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties of Washington. Applicants must plan to major in journalism or music.

Additional Information: The Doell Family Scholarship was established by the children of Bill and Mildred Doell in hopes that future generations would know and recognize their high ideals and tireless efforts to improve the community of North Central Washington. Awards are provided to graduating high school seniors in Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties of Washington who plan to major in journalism, music, or a related field. Award selection will be based on a combination of academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Additional consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to the community. Scholarship recipients will be notified in May and will be required to provide additional proof of eligibility such as acceptance or enrollment in an accredited college or university.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable. All funds will be deposited directly with the school of the recipient's choice.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

The Doell Family Scholarship has closed for 2019 but is expected to be offered again in 2020. Please check back in January of 2020 when applications will become available. Applications for the Doell Family Scholarship must be completed online at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington website. To apply, students must first create an online account with the community foundation's application portal and complete the eligibility quiz. Students will then be able to access the individual applications for any scholarships they are eligible through the foundation. Applicants are encouraged to gather the following materials prior to beginning the application: their expected family contribution (EFC) from their Student Aid Report (SAR); transcripts from their current educational institution; email addresses for two individuals who will provide a recommendation for the applicant; and a list of activities, awards, and honors the student has received. The Student Aid Report is obtained by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the student's current-year FAFSA must be completed at the time of application. Students may apply to multiple scholarships they are eligible through the foundation application portal by clicking on "copy answers." Students are also advised to pay close attention to any specific short answers, essays, or other supplemental materials required for each specific scholarship's application. All submissions must be completed online by the deadline date. Any late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
