In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must demonstrate a course of study that supports the intention to pursue a career in the television industry.
  3. Must be a full-time student.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must have attained senior-level status, in a bachelor's degree program, as of the fall term of the year of the application OR be enrolled in a graduate degree program in that term.
  6. Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university within the ADI (area of dominant influence) of the television stations within the Chicago/Midwest chapter jurisdiction OR be a relative of a member in good standing of the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the Television Academy. The television markets the Chicago/Midwest Chapter covers are: Chicago, Peoria-Bloomington, and Rockford, Illinois; South Bend-Elkhart, Indiana; and Greenbay, Madison, Milwaukee, and Wausau, Wisconsin.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. college seniors or graduate students who are enrolled in a full-time course of study in a field related to the television industry. The applicant must attend a school within the ADI (area of dominant influence) of the television stations within the Chicago/Midwest chapter jurisdiction OR be a relative of a member in good standing of the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the Television Academy.

Application requirements for the NATAS Chicago/Midwest Chapter Scholarship for College Students are:

  • Application form
  • Recommendation letter (2+)
  • Official Transcript
  • Resume
  • Interview (finalists only)
Additional Information: Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of professional potential and commitment. Finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship panel in early to mid-May.

Award Amount: $4,000 annually for the college student scholarships, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in December for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online on the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) website. In addition to a completed application, college students must submit: a resume that includes internships as well as employment history; two or more letters of recommendation (the applicant should review the website for details about who the letters must be from); and an authorized copy of his/her college transcript, plus an unofficial copy that includes his/her spring quarter/semester grades. Applicants are required to complete the application online prior to the deadline date.
