In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a current undergraduate student.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must attend University of Texas, Austin.
  4. Must be majoring in journalism or a related field.
  5. Must be a born-again Christian.

Description: The Christians in Journalism Scholarship is provided annually for undergraduate students who are majoring in journalism at the University of Texas, Austin. Applicants must be born-again Christians and must demonstrate both activity within their church and strong academic performance.

Additional Information: The Christians in Journalism Scholarship is provided annually to current students at the University of Texas, Austin. Applicants must be born-again Christians and must be majoring in or planning to major in journalism or a related degree. Award selection will be based on a combination of academic achievements, honors and awards won, the quality of the submitted essays, and the strength of the two recommendation letters. The Austin Community Foundation has provided more than $6.5 million in scholarship awards since the scholarship program began in 1996. Each year, more than 400 new awards worth in excess of $600,000 are provided through a variety of programs designed to assist students in the Austin, Texas area and beyond.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
