In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S students.
  2. Must be a undergraduate or graduate student.
  3. Must pursuing a degree in digital media/journalism/communications.
  4. Must owe over $10,000 to their university or student loan provider, with an outstanding balance owed at the time of application or an anticipated balance owed within the next year.

Description: The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit educational and professional organization. At present, it has more than 1,500 members across the United States and Asia. Since its founding, AAJA has been at the forefront of change in the journalism industry. The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) is proud to partner with Facebook to establish the Facebook Journalism Project Scholarship. This program offers financial assistance for students who aspire to pursue a career in journalism and media. This partnership fosters AAJA’s and Facebook’s commitment to supporting quality journalism that strengthens and connects communities.

Application requirements for the Facebook Journalism Project Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: Applicants must be committed to AAJA’s mission. And must also be • Currently enrolled juniors, seniors, or graduate students at an accredited university in the United States (proof of enrollment required). • Pursuing a degree in digital media/journalism/communications. • Display a commitment to storytelling as demonstrated by completed coursework, clips/work samples and letters of recommendation. • Must owe over $10,000 to their university or student loan provider, with an outstanding balance owed at the time of application or an anticipated balance owed within the next year. • Not required to be AAJA members, but selected scholarship recipients must sign up for student membership. • Applicants may not apply for more than one Facebook Journalism Project Scholarship (i.e., similar Facebook Journalism Project scholarships offered by NAHJ, NAJA, or NLGJA).

Award Amount: $2,000  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
