Harvey Fellows Program
Each fellow is awarded $12,000 annually, which is renewable for an additional year if pursuing a master's degree or two additional years if enrolled in a law or doctoral program. Renewal is contingent upon good academic standing, reaffirmation of the statement of faith and vocational goal, as articulated in the student's application, and the approval of Mustard Seed Foundation. Fellows are free to use their stipends for legitimate educational expenses which further their vocational goals.
The number of fellowships awarded each year varies according to available funds from the Mustard Seed Foundation. Last year, 20 awards were offered from a pool of approximately 300 applications.
*Please note: All persons receiving a Harvey Fellowship must demonstrate a personal faith in Jesus Christ and desire to serve and witness in Christ's name. The Harvey Fellows program seeks to encourage Christian graduate students to integrate faith and vocation and pursue leadership positions in strategic fields where Christians tend to be underrepresented. The goal is to empower students who evidence the passion and ability to lead others as they participate in God's work to redeem society's structures. Fellows have an obligation to fulfill the following four program requirements: stewardship; a theological commitment; fellowship and service; and a week at the Summer Institute to explore the integration of faith, learning, and vocation. Priorities in evaluating applications include the following: the candidate's description of Christian faith; his/her demonstrated commitment and accountability to a local church; how his/her field will influence society and how it lacks of a distinctive Christian voice; demonstrated leadership within the discipline; and potential to impact people and systemic structures within his/her field through research or other scholarly work (demonstrated by current academic success, professional experiences and exposure, and the candidate's work sample and recommendations). Financial need is not a primary consideration. Strong preference is given to those whose research/project interests/industry are not explicitly "Christian" in nature. Fellowship awards are conditional upon enrollment at an approved university. International students who meet all criteria are encouraged to apply. Fellowships are not awarded for study at theological schools or for non-degree or part-time graduate programs.
The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. Please check back in May for a refreshed application deadline date. Applicatio ... sign up for full scholarship deadline information.
