Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be majoring in public relations, journalism, or a related field in preparation for a career in public relations.
  3. Must be a minority student.
  4. Must be a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRRSA).
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must be entering or enrolled in his/her senior year of undergraduate studies.

Additional Information: Marcia Silverman, chair at Ogilvy, has spent her entire career as a champion of the public relations profession, not only by leading one of the industry’s outstanding global agencies, but also by personally demonstrating to corporate, government and civic leaders the significant role that public relations plays. Each year, an award is provided in her honor to expand diversity and leadership within the field.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online from the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must submit the following materials: a resume including any academic honors, special projects, activities, work experience, or training that he/she would like to be taken into consideration; a letter of recommendation, no more than two pages, from either a faculty member or PRSSA Adviser; and up to two additional letters of academic and/or professional recommendation. All applications and supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
