In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an incoming or current full time law student at an accredited law school.
  2. Must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Description: Named after Lloyd M. Johnson Jr., the program helps law students meet basic needs such as tuition, books and fees. Fellows receive $10,000 a year for three years to help defray the cost of law school. Scholars receive a one-time award of $10,000 to assist with their first-year expenses. In the three years since the program was launched, MCCA has awarded more than 30 fellowships and more than 20 scholarships.

Additional Information: Up to six Fellows receive $10,000 a year for three years to help defray the cost of law school. Scholars receive a one-time award of $10,000 to assist with their first-year expenses. Applicants to the scholarship program must have a financial need, must be outstanding students who have been accepted to an accredited U.S. law school, and must have demonstrated leadership and an interest in and commitment to diversity. Applications are reviewed by a Selection Committee consisting of many of the nation’s top lawyers and executives. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible: • Proof of acceptance into an ABA-accredited U.S. law school for a full-time Juris Doctorate Program (Fall 2021) (NOTE: LLM students, part-time students, and students pursuing dual degree programs are ineligible) • An undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher • 2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Form (NOTE: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students with an issued social security number must submit a completed FAFSA form. DACA students who were not issued a social security number must provide proof of DACA status in lieu of the FAFSA form.) • An interest in corporate law, including an interest in working in a corporate law department and/or law firm • An interest in diversity, inclusion and equity • Demonstrated community service and leadership qualities

Award Amount: Up to $10,000 in scholarships offered renewable for 3 years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $60,000.
