Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be attending an accredited law school at least half time.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be in law school pursuing a Juris Doctor.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must be attending college in the U.S.

Description: This award is for U.S. law school students who display a commitment to serve the Asian Pacific American community. Students must be attending an accredited law school at least half-time.

Additional Information: In recognition of the NAPABA Law Foundation’s 20th Anniversary in 2014, NLF Board Member Ronald Low, one of the original founders of NAPABA, and his wife Wanda Denson-Low, retired Senior Vice President for the Boeing Company and former recipient of the NAPABA 2004 Women’s Leadership Award, have generously donated $50,000 to the NLF to fund this scholarship in perpetuity. One $2500 scholarship will be awarded annually to a law student who has a history of demonstrated leadership and/or community service to the Asian Pacific American Community. The Scholarship will be designated to a student meeting the following criteria: demonstrated financial need, as evidenced by the student’s financial aid application, including attachments and executed forms; demonstrated commitment to pro bono service; commitment to serving the needs of the Asian Pacific American community; and leadership potential.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online from the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit an official copy of his/her most recent law school transcript (a first-year law student must submit a statement from his/her law school certifying that he/she is a law degree candidates enrolled at least half-time); a resume; and two letters of recommendation from persons not related to the applicant. An applicant who wishes to demonstrate financial need may also submit a copy of his/her law school application for financial assistance. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted online and must be received no later than the deadline date.
