In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must have performed research on the non-destructive testing of concrete.
  3. Must have performed research work while enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.

Description: Undergraduate or graduate international and U.S. students who have performed research on the non-destructive testing of concrete are eligible for this award. To apply, students must submit a technical paper that should be both original and innovative.

Application requirements for the ACI James Instruments Student Award for Research on NDT of Concrete are:

  • Essay
Additional Information: The applicant need not be enrolled at the time of submission, but the work must have been performed by a student while enrolled in a degree program (undergraduate or graduate) at an accredited institution of higher education. The work must have been completed within two years of submission.

Award Amount: $1,500 cash prize annually, non-renewable. The award will be presented at the ACI Spring Convention.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

This is a writing contest for original research on non-destructive testing (NDT) of concrete. The submission consists of a technical paper that should be both original and innovative. The paper must focus on, or possibly lay the foundation for, the development of an NDT method for concrete. Papers must conform to the style and standards of the ACI Journal. The student must be the primary author of the paper. Papers must be submitted by email to the address provided.
