The award is given in the form of a forgivable loan. The loan cannot exceed the student's cost of tuition, mandatory fees, and other direct educational expenses. The loan is renewable. The loan will be forgiven at the rate of two years of qualifying employment for each year of loan. Qualifying employment is employment as a librarian or archivist in a public library, public school library, state agency, or political subdivision in Delaware.
The number of awards offered varies annually. In the 2013-2014 academic year (the most recent year for which information is available), there were 14 awards given. Please note that this program also provides awards to current Delaware library employees.
