Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 10 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a full-time student.
  3. Must be a minority that has been historically underrepresented in chemical engineering (African-American, Hispanic, Native American, or Alaskan Native).
  4. Must be an AIChE student member.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must pursue a career in chemical engineering.
  7. Must be a current undergraduate college student at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: International and U.S. AICHE student members who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate chemical engineering program are eligible for this award. Students must be part of a minority group and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Selection of winners will be based on the following criteria: the applicant's academic record; participation in AIChE Student Chapter and professional or civic activities as outlined in the chapter adviser's, department chair's, or other faculty member's letter of application; the applicant's career objectives and plans as outlined in his/her letter; and financial need. Awards will be announced by July or August. No award will be made after December. The award will be disbursed to each student upon receipt of a copy of the proof of fall semester college registration.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit a letter of no more than 300 words outlining his/her immediate plans after graduation, the areas of chemical engineering that are of most interest, and his/her long-range career objectives; transcripts of college grades (both unoffocial and official); a letter from his/her college financial aid office indicating that he/she is eligible for financial aid based on his/her records; and a letter of recommendation from the AIChE student chapter advisor, department chair, or chemical engineering faculty member containing, but not limited to, verification of the student's grade point average and projected completion date, an evaluation of the student's academic performance and participation in AIChE and other professional or civic activities, and confirmation of the student's minority group. All supporting documents must be scanned and uploaded (in Wod or PDF format) into the online application. Official transcripts must be submitted via email, fax or mail using the contact information listed. The completed application form and all supporting documents must be submitted online by the deadline date.
