Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. engineering program through a college or university.
  4. Must be pursuing a degree in aeronautical, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  5. Must have a passion to work in the airline/aviation industry.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must be a member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) by Nov. 1, and that membership must remain current through March. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The American Airlines Engineering Scholarship is open to U.S. students who are pursuing a degree in aeronautical, electrical, or mechanical engineering with a passion to work in the airline/aviation industry. Students must be members of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) to apply; men and women are eligible to join WAI.

Additional Information: American Airlines and Envoy Maintenance & Engineering divisions are vital to the companies' commitment to provide safe, dependable, and friendly air transportation to their customers. As such, they seek to attract top engineering talent who share their passion and interest in the aviation industry. Candidates for this scholarship will be evaluated on academic standing, personal accomplishments, teamwork, leadership skills, community service involvement, and future career aspirations. All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded at the Annual International Women in Aviation Conference. American Airlines will provide air travel, hotel, and conference registration. Please note: Students may only receive one scholarship per year.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.
