Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to 40 awards offered annually. There will be 29 general graduate scholarships awarded, and one of each of the named scholarships will be awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be in a program leading to an advanced degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering or a nuclear-related field.
  3. Must be a full-time student.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident.
  5. Must enroll in a graduate program.
  6. Must be a student member of the American Nuclear Society (ANS).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. graduate students who are enrolled in a program leading to an advanced degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering or a nuclear-related field.

Additional Information: In addition to the Graduate Scholarship, the named scholarships included in the ANS Graduate Scholarship Program are the following: the Robert A. Dannels Scholarship, the Verne R. Dapp Scholarship (odd years only), the Walter Meyer Scholarship (even years only), the Everitt P. Blizard Scholarship, the Allan F. Henry/Paul A. Greebler Scholarship, the Saul Levine Scholarship, the John Randall Scholarship, the James F. Schumar Scholarship, the James R. Vogt Radiochemistry Scholarship, the Decommissioning, Decontamination and Reutilization Scholarship, the Robert E. Uhrig Scholarship, the Pittsburgh Local Section Scholarship, and the Nuclear Criticality Safety Pioneers Scholarship (NCSD).

Award Amount: The following scholarships are worth $3,000 each: Graduate, Vogt, Dapp/Meyer, DD&RD, Blizard, Levine, NCSD, Randall, and Schumar. The following scholarships are worth $3,500 each: Pittsburgh, Dannels, and Henry/Greebler. All awards are offered annually and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,038.

Applications are available on the American Nuclear Society (ANS) website. The applicant must check the appropriate box on the application for the specific scholarship(s) for which he/she is applying. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must also include official school transcripts with a seal; a sponsorship letter by an ANS organization; and three confidential reference letters. Certain scholarships require some materials in addition to those listed above. The student should check the application to be sure he/she is submitting all required materials. It is required that the application and all of the required materials be mailed together in one package and sent to ANS headquarters to the attention of the scholarship coordinator. The application should be in the mail at least seven days prior to the deadline date so that it is received by this date.
