In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student at the time of application.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. Must be majoring in design.

Description: This scholarship contest is available for college juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are majoring in a design program. To be considered for this award, applicants must submit an original work of interior or furniture design.

Application requirements for the Bienenstock Design Competition are:

  • Design submission
Additional Information: Since 1984, the library has awarded more than $350,000 in scholarships to students at 17 colleges throughout the US. It was the Bienenstock’s desire to invest in the education and future of the furniture industry. The Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library is committed to helping students bring their best designs to the competition. Professional members of the furniture design and interior design industries stand ready to mentor aspiring design students and to answer any Bienenstock Furniture and Interior Design Competition questions.

Award Amount: The first place winner will be awarded a $5000.00 scholarship and receive national publicity for themselves and their school. The furniture design category second place winner will receive a $1,500.00 scholarship. The first place winner’s design school or department will receive a check for $1000.00.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,500.

Application and award information is available on the Bienenstock Furniture Library website at the address provided. To participate in this contest, applicants must submit an original work of interior or furniture design.
