Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually. One is provided for fall study and one for spring.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
  4. Must be majoring in culinary arts or hospitality management.
  5. Must reside in Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, or St. John’s county, Florida.
  6. Must have completed at least two full semesters of undergraduate study at the time of application.
  7. Must attend a college or university in Florida.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for north Florida students who are majoring in hospitality or a related field. Applicants must reside in Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, or St. John’s county and have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.

Application requirements for the Claude Collins Hospitality Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Resume
  • Letter from HR manager verifying employment
Additional Information: This scholarship is provided annually in honor of Claude Collins, and will be awarded to a north Florida student who is majoring in culinary arts or hospitality management.

Award Amount: $1,000 to $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications and information about this award are available on the North Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (NFHLA) website at the address provided. In addition to a completed application form, students must submit the following items: a current, formal resume; a written letter of recommendation from a supervisor; a letter from an HR supervisor describing the nature of the applicant's work and schedule; and a short essay describing the student's goals in the hospitality industry. All applications must be submitted by August 31 for fall enrollment, January 31 for spring enrollment, and April 30 for summer.
