Financial need is determined by using the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The EFC is calculated by the U.S. Department of Education using information provided on the FAFSA. Priority is given to students with the most financial need as follows: Level 1: Students with the Least Ability to Pay - Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) between zero and 150% of that required for a PELL grant at the point and time of the award. Level 2: Students with Documented Need and Moderate Ability to Pay Students with an EFC that is between 150% and 200% of that required for the minimum Pell grant award. Level 3: Students with Documented Need and Average Ability to Pay All other students who demonstrate financial need as calculated by the federal methodology.
