Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen.
  3. Must be a commercial real estate professional with three or more years of experience.
  4. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student obtaining continuing education to advance his/her knowledge and career in the field of commercial real estate.

Additional Information: Established in 2010, the David T. Houston Jr. SIOR Memorial Fund has instituted an educational scholarship program intended to encourage and promote education for outstanding and deserving individuals within the commercial real estate industry.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online from the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit contact information for two recommenders; a typed and signed letter of no more than 1,000 words stating his/her intellectual interests, activities and employment (if any), and the real estate career he/she expects to follow; a statement of his/her proposed program of study signed by the dean, faculty advisor, or authorized official at his/her institution (a brief description of the courses taken or planned in order to pursue the degree should be included); official transcripts; and a statement of financial need, if applicable. The application must be completed and submitted in its entirety electronically to Corinne Novak no later than 5:00 PM EDT on the deadline date. Only letters of recommendation may come under separate cover, faxed to the number provided. All support materials and pages must be marked with the name of the applicant for whom the materials are being submitted. Unmarked materials cannot be considered.
