Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be in the final two years of undergraduate study OR be a graduate student.
  3. Must be pursuing a degree in landscape architecture.
  4. Must be of African American, Hispanic, Native American, or other cultural/ethnic minority heritage.

Description: This scholarship is open to international and U.S. students who are in the final two years of undergraduate program or a graduate program in landscape architecture. Students must be of African American, Hispanic, Native American, or other cultural/ethnic minority heritage.

Additional Information: EDSA is an internationally-renowned full-service planning, landscape architecture, urban design, and graphic design firm with over 220 employees. Established in 1960, the firm has extensive experience in attractions and entertainment, campus and cultural, communities and new towns, ecotourism and environmental planning, hotels and resorts, as well as urban design.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available on the Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF) website. The student must apply using the online application system. For this award, the student must describe his/her racial/ethnic heritage in the last question of the online application. Please note: There is a $5 (USD) application fee required for each LAF scholarship. Students may apply for multiple awards; however, a separate application fee is required for each. Students must submit the following supplemental application materials for all LAF scholarships: a 4 x 6, 300-ppi color photo in .jpg format (must be a head shot with a plain background); a biography of 150 words of less that describes his/her background, current educational pursuits, future plans, and any other personal interests or activities (must be in PDF, Microsoft Word, or TXT); and a resume of two pages or less that lists education, professional experience, extracurricular activities, and honors and awards (in PDF). The following materials are required for this award, in addition to all aforementioned application materials: an essay of 500 words or less describing a design or research effort he/she plans to pursue, including an explanation of how it will contribute to the advancement of the profession and his/her ethnic heritage (in PDF); three 8.5"x11" work samples in one PDF document, including explanatory text for each sample; and two letters of recommendation. The student must provide contact information for each recommender, who will be sent instructions regarding submission of the letter. All application materials must be submitted by the deadline date.
