Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be studying at an accredited four-year college or university in North America during the upcoming school year.
  3. Must major in architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, construction management, material science, or another related field.
  4. Must be currently enrolled in college at the undergraduate or graduate levels at time of entry. Please note: High school students are not eligible to enter this contest.

Qualifying majors include architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, construction management, material science, or other related fields.

Additional Information: The AGA recommends that students visit www.galvanizeit.org for helpful information relating to hot-dip galvanizing before writing their essays. The website provides a wealth of no-cost resources, including access to current publications, printed articles, technical information resource CDs, and a variety of industry links. Judges will evaluate submissions based on relevance, accuracy, conciseness, and ingenuity. Each essay will be read and ranked by reviewers at the AGA. Final awards will be determined by both the AGA's executive director and president. Winners will be personally notified and announced on the AGA website in April/May. All submissions become the property of the AGA and will not be returned. Winning essays become the property of the AGA, which will, however, cooperate fully with the authors in the republication of essays.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Entry forms for this essay contest are available on the American Galvanizers Association (AGA) website at the address provided. The essay must be on one of the two topics concerning hot-dip galvanizing listed on the entry form. The essay must be in English and be between 1,000 and 2,000 words long. The entry form and essay may be submitted online using the application web form at the provider website. The essay must be uploaded in Word format, Rich Text format, or Adobe Acrobat PDF. Only one entry will be accepted per student. All entries must be submitted by the deadline before midnight MST. For questions, students should use the AGA's website contact form. Phone calls are not accepted.
