This scholarship was established for the benefit of high school graduates from East Hawai'i (Honoka’a to Ka‘u). Dr. Gerrit Ludwig was an ophthalmologist in Hilo with a love for fine arts and classics. He set up this fund to support students studying in these fields. Preference is given to students pursuing a degree in Fine Arts and Classics. All applicants for this award must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August.
