Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  2. Must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at the graduate level.
  3. Must be majoring in geoscience, including the geoscience subdisciplines of geology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrology, physical oceanography, planetary geology, or earth-science education.
  4. Must be female.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to women studying geological science at the graduate level. Applicants must have at least one full year of study remaining and must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Applications are open to all women pursuing a Master’s degree in the geosciences. The successful applicant will be a thesis-based, full time student and must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship is solely merit-based and applicants will be evaluated on their probability of successfully completing a geoscience graduate program and transitioning into the geoscience profession following graduation.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Previous winners are encouraged to reapply, but renewal is not automatic.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications and additional information about this award are available on the American Geological Institute (AGI) website. In addition to the completed online application form, each applicant must submit the following documents: an official transcript from each college he/she has attended (SAT, ACT, and/or GRE scores are also requested); and two letters of recommendation from persons qualified to judge the applicant's recent academic performance and character. Geoscience faculty/employers are preferred; other science/mathematics faculty are acceptable. Supporting documents must be saved and submitted in PDF format. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
