In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be currently enrolled in, or accepted to, an accredited graduate program.
  3. Must plan to pursue a career in the water supply industry.
  4. This award is for female and/or minority students.

Description: The Holly A. Cornell scholarship is available for female and/or minority students in pursuit of advanced training in the field of water supply and treatment. Applicants must be accepted to or currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university.

Application requirements for the Holly A. Cornell Scholarship are:

  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letter
  • Essay
Additional Information: The Holly A. Cornell Scholarship created in 1990 by CH2M Hill, Inc. honors the name of Holly A. Cornell, co-founder of CH2M Hill, and to encourage and support outstanding female and/or minority students pursuing advanced training in the field of water supply and treatment. Students who have been accepted into a graduate school but have not yet begun graduate coursework are encouraged to apply.

Award Amount: $7,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,500.

Applications and information are available from the American Water Works Association website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application form, students must submit the following items: a resume not exceeding two pages; official transcripts from all educational institutions attended; three letters of recommendation; a proposed curriculum of study for the following year; a one-page statement of educational and career plans; and a three-page plan proposal for research and/or future study. All applications and supporting documents must be received online by 4 p.m. on the deadline date.
