Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a resident of Illinois.
  4. Must have a current or final grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must have pre-approved status by Illinois Board of Examiners and agree to take one or more parts of the CPA exam within nine months of the date on the application approval letter from the Board of Examiners.
  6. Must be a non-CPA and complete a course of study that reflects an intention to complete all four parts of the CPA exam within 18 months of approval from the Illinois Board of Examiners.

Description: Illinois residents with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher who demonstrate financial need and are pre-approved to sit for the CPA Exam are eligible for this award. The award is to be used as reimbursement of the NASBA fee.

Additional Information: This program, supported by the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois, is intended to reimburse National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) fee which is part of the cost of the CPA Exam. Successful candidates must demonstrate achievement as well as financial need. An eligible applicant must not be reimbursed for the CPA Exam fees by his/her employer. An applicant for this award must not have completed all four parts of the exam, but may apply with a portion of the exam completed. If all four parts are not completed within 18 months, the candidate may be asked to refund all, or a portion of the award based on number of parts completed.

Award Amount: Up to $750 annually, non-renewable. The award is to be used as reimbursement of the NASBA fee.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $750.

Applications are available online from the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit his/her responses to the three essay topics listed within the application, his/her resume, and college transcripts. Applications must be submitted online by the deadline date.
