Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. The Freemont Foundation awarded eight scholarships across its high school senior, undergraduate, and graduate programs for the prior academic year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must apply to and be accepted into a graduate school in the United States by July 1. Enrollment must begin in the fall term and must continue for the entire academic year.
  4. Must be pursuing a graduate degree in the health and medical sciences with the intention of pursuing that discipline as a career.
  5. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Additional Information: Freemont Scholars are selected based on exceptional academic ability and achievement and a record of leadership and volunteerism in the community. A rigorous application review includes an analysis of grades, student essays, and letters of recommendation. The scholarships will be awarded in April.

Award Amount: The award amount varies annually. Scholarships are non-renewable; however, previous recipients may reapply.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,875.

Applications are available on the Freemont Foundation website.In addition to a completed application, each student must submit the following materials: an essay of 300 to 350 words addressing the topic "Why I am choosing the health or medical sciences as a career"; a resume/activity sheet; two letters of recommendation, one from a professor, counselor, or administrator, and one from a community member or officer of an organization in which the applicant is affiliated; and two copies of his/her most recent official school transcript (both copies must have the school seal/stamp). The student's name should appear on all materials. Materials should not be stapled together.Complete application packages must be mailed to the address provided and must be postmarked by the deadline date.
