Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be pursuing a course of study at an accredited university leading to a graduate degree. The university may be located in Scotland, but this is not a requirement.
  3. Must be studying history, with an emphasis on Scotland.
  4. Must be a full-time student.

Additional Information: Scholarships will be announced at the Order of Alba annual meeting in Washington, D.C. in April.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 annually. Scholarships are for one year, but may be renewed, contingent on proof of satisfactory grades, continuing applicability of the course of study to Scottish history, and availability of funds. Please note: The award amount may vary annually.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Application information is available on the Order of Alba website. To apply, the student must submit the following information: contact information; personal background; academic background; description of his/her course of study, particularly its relationship to Scottish history; publication plans; and letters of recommendation. Application information must be submitted by email to the address provided, and must be received by the deadline date.
